1919-1992
Born in London in 1919, Bulmer studied at the Royal College of Art in the post-WWII years and later taught at Kingston College of Art. He specialised in landscapes depicting the Suffolk area where he and his wife, the artist Margaret Green, lived for many years. Bulmer’s work has overtones of social realism and his early work was influenced by ideas of the commonplace and everyday. He later developed a quasi-pointillist style, influenced by Seurat, using intense colours to represent the sunshine and coastal scenes he depicted.
